Privacy notice

What we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who sees it, and how to make us stop. Written to be read rather than to be survived.

Draft pending legal review. This document has not yet been reviewed by a Nigerian lawyer. It describes Ifenri's current practice honestly, but it is not legal advice and it may change. It should not be relied on as a final instrument.

01Who this covers

This notice covers Ifenri Limited (“Ifenri”, “we”) and everyone who interacts with us: farmers, cooperative members, machine owners, buyers, suppliers, applicants and website visitors.

It has two parts, because we hold two different kinds of information: your personal data (who you are and how to reach you) and your farm data (what is happening on your land). Farm data is governed additionally by our data charter.

02What we collect

  • Contact details you give us — name, phone, email, cooperative, and the organisation you represent.
  • Farm and plot information — location, boundaries, size, crop, planting dates and access notes.
  • Service records — jobs requested and delivered, prices, payments, machine hours and operator notes.
  • Field data — drone imagery, crop-health maps, sensor readings, robot run logs and the agronomist’s notes on them.
  • Safety records — incident and near-miss logs, route-risk notes and access information.
  • Website data — the contents of any form you submit. We do not run advertising trackers on this site.

03Why we hold it

  • To deliver and price the service you asked for.
  • To produce the reports and recommendations the service exists to produce, reviewed by an agronomist.
  • To plan equipment, operators and maintenance honestly.
  • To invoice, and to keep proper accounting records.
  • To meet safety and legal obligations, including incident reporting and any regulatory requirements.
  • To improve our models and, where you have opted in, to produce anonymised insight for partners named in your consent.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your contact details for unrelated marketing, and our newsletter is a separate opt-in that you can withdraw at any time.

04Our lawful basis

We rely on your consent for farm data and for any optional sharing; on the performance of a contract for delivering a service you have engaged us for; and on our legitimate interests and legal obligations for safety records, incident logs and accounting.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Where withdrawal makes a service impossible to deliver, we will tell you that clearly rather than quietly continuing.

05Who we share it with

Partners receive aggregated or anonymised insight, never identifiable farm records. A named partner and a written purpose are required before any such product launches.

  • Service providers who host our systems or transport equipment, under contract and only for that purpose.
  • Insurers, where cover is required for a job you have engaged us for.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it, or for safety coordination you have been told about.
  • Named research or programme partners, only where you have specifically opted in.

06How long we keep it

Field data and service records are kept while you are a customer and for a reasonable period afterwards, because yield and loss history only becomes useful across seasons. Safety and incident records are kept for longer, because their value is historical. Accounting records are kept as long as Nigerian law requires.

Where you ask us to delete personal data and no legal obligation requires us to keep it, we delete it and say so.

07How we protect it

Access to identifiable farm data is limited to the people who need it to deliver the service, and that access is logged. We keep audit logs, control access, and maintain a breach plan.

If data is lost or exposed, we will tell affected farmers directly and promptly, and explain what we are doing about it. We would rather be embarrassed than silent.

08Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you and your farm, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it, object to a particular use, and withdraw consent for optional uses.

Contact [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the relevant Nigerian data protection authority.

09The data charter in short

  • Informed consent, in plain language. Farmers give consent in plain language and local languages, and consent can be withdrawn.
  • Farmers own their farm data. Ifenri may use it for agreed purposes, and shares the benefit where the data creates value.
  • Anonymise before sharing. Anonymise and aggregate before any sharing with partners. Never sell personal data.
  • Secure by default. Secure storage, access control, audit logs and a breach plan.
  • Publish and review. A short data charter, reviewed yearly with farmers and partners.
  • Follow the law. Nigerian data protection law, and any rules for health-related data, confirmed with a lawyer.

10Changes to this notice

We will date every change. If a change affects what we do with data we already hold, we will tell you and ask again rather than treating your earlier consent as permanent.
